heim joints vrs. TRE?

Another rookie question. What is the difference? Pros n cons. Doing searches on cross over I've seen the common TRE's and the something different that I believe r Heim joints.
 
I ran 3/4" Heims for years, zero issues.
Almost no wear issues either.

AND I ran heims and they were so loosey goosey after a year I swore I would never run heims again

It depends. I have run both had one tie rod joint fail. Have had one heim fail. Heim I had to order. TRE we ran into town got another and drove wheeled the rest of the day
 
That being the compelling reason to go TRE, availability
A lot of other trucks here using the same TRE
 
Heims on all movable joints for 10 years of abuse. Never a failure and have not replaced any. No slop either.
 
The one thing I might should clarify is I put almost 20k miles in that truck in a year and wheeled probably every other weekend.

I would have no problem with heims on something that sees occasional on road use and gets wheeled.

But I still really don't see much value in running heims over conventional TRE on a multi purpose rig
