Has any one ever used heli-coil on a bell housing? A friend asked me and I said it would probably be ok as long as the bell housing wasn't cracked.

Hold my beer & watch this!

I have used them at the back of the tranny where the adaptor bolts on. Been a few years now and they are still good.

some stock alum. cast parts come from the factory with heli-coils in them because the threads are stronger than just taping the alum cast., it will be better than new probably

Did the same thing, my wife (also an engineer in the guard) of all people stripped out the bellhousing while we were torqueing the tranny on. dropped the tranny out went to napa got the kit and its been fine for a few months now
