Hello all I have a 1986 Chevy k30 that I'm wanting to put the 89-91quad lights grille on. I bought one off ebay a few years ago today I was putting it together the problem I ran into is the new support is 2 inches taller where the fenders bolt on. Is there a difference in supports from trucks to blazers, suburbans? Or did I just get a rare defect? Is this the correct part number 15641713?

Thanks

sounds like you got a newer 88-up body style unit .

that would be the only thing I can think of off the top of my head .

It looks to be correct just all fender bolt holes 2 inches to high.[/quote

The fenders are the same 81-91, the core support and grills differ. The bolt holes should line up. Is the new core support the same height as the one you removed. I have to agree with sweetK30 that you have the wrong grill.

This may sound like a crazy thing to check for, but you do only have one set of body mounts, correct? There aren't old ones stuck to the radiator support or your old ones aren't still stuck in the body mounts? Just something simple to check that would be the only logical explanation.

Does this truck have a body lift? Did the donor truck?
