Ok, while working on my 465 I had some trouble reinstalling the top cover. My first installation missed the reverse fork so I pulled it back off. When I set the top cover down on the bench to figure it out everything was working fine. After turning the cover over to look at the forks the shifter seemed to lock up and feels as if it's stuck in neutral (the shifter stick was installed throughout this and never removed). Is there something that can fall out of position when upside down?

Note; prior to this the cover worked perfectly.

Warning: This may be of no help at all...

Ive never been able to put the cover on when the shifter was in the cover. It is possible to slide the fork into position by hand and reinstall it, thats how i'd always do mine.

TARussell figured it out. When I had the cover off the shifter came out of reverse - I didn't give much thought. Apparently, with the cover off (and no slide collars to limit fork travel) the fork/rod assembly can move too far causing the assembly to lock up. After a little studying, simple moving the reverse rod back into it's correct position fixed the problem.
