HELP #8 not firing

Just put together a 400 sm block and finally got to firing her today. all is good except #8 is dead. I have good spark, have swapped wires, plugs. I pulled the valve cover and the valves are opening fine. cant figure out wtf?

any suggestions on what to do next?

No #8

Check your distibutor cap, and the connections. Make sure the igniton wire is seated right in the cap.

So you got it running ok now?

Make sure that the valve lash isn't set too tightly. If the valves can't fully seat when closed, then you'll have no compression in that cylinder.

If it's a multi-port setup, check to see if the #8 injector is working.

harry i have no compression....just found that out a minute ago. ill check the valve lash now.

valve lash too tight on intake valve number eight. when both valves closed i put some compressed air through the spark plug hole and heard air coming out of the carb. Wala! backed off valve lash and can you say instant compression??

Hey did you guys know a V8 is better than a V7?

anyways here is a pic of the motor i posted on a previous post a while back. I just took her around the block (dirt roads few houses) and she is very peppy and responsive. sounds good without the hood and open headers. but im takin her easy then we will open her up a bit.
