Help ac control switch.

Does anyone know a fast way to get the ac controller switch cable back on?
I bought a new switch and have everything back in but the cable is being a b**** to connect. I cannot get the red square on the cable to line up with the black square on the controller.
I have been at this for a few days now and am at wits end. Anyone know a better way to do it?

Take it off from the other end. That side is easier to connect.
