image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Ok guys working on installing a aftermarket dash pad in my 87 K5. So far fits like crap am I missing something? Here are a few pictures.

Looks like it needs to be pushed further back /towards windshield to seat the front clips. You have to work it along each one from one side to the other. The ridge by the instrument cluster will go away once it sits in the sun a few days, at least mine smoothed right out.

tried to push more forward does not want to go and it also needs to go down by good 1/4 or more. This is another dumb design from GM if you ask me. Have tried for over a hour with no luck.
Seems like can not find any good write up or pics/vids on the net.

that looks like CRAP ! ! !

and unless you installed the dash trim panel wrong that pass side end gap of NASTY

2 ears to hold it down are broken just need to get it back on road for now and can come back and fix little shit like that.

Our Great GM thought it would be good idea to no longer make parts so you can thank them for the great aftermarket dash pads.

Might look better once I can figure out how it goes in and let it sit out in the sun some.

End gap not sure a new piece will fix but one step at a time. But when I try to work on it seems like 2 steps back!!!

So does the A-pillar trim and the trim that runs vertical on the side of the dash need to be removed to install the dash pad?????

Trying to look at everything here!

I always remove all the other trim when I take the dash pad off and put it back on.

What trim are you speaking of, I am about to swap out my dashpad for a Summit one soon.

Since my truck is a '76 I've only got the upper A-pillar trim to mess with (part 2 in the diagram below). I know the 'newer' ('81-'91) trucks also have trim on the lower part of the A-pillar that covers the footwell sides too. Parts 2 and 3 in the LMC catalog diagram below:
