help axle walk

Alright my friend has my old 85 k5. It has 1 1/2 ton (first mistake) dana 44 with 35's. It has a 6 inch lift. When ever he turns the wheels either way the axle walks with them in stead of staying in place therefore cutting his steering in half. we have checked everything but the ball joints those will be replaced this weekend does anyone know what else could cause it. The frame isnt cracked. we've changed steering boxes. What would cause this? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

sounds to me like its sheared the pins or the u-bolts arent tight
