I was wondering if there is a step by step how to on how to replace the axles in my d44. if not could anyone tell me atleast what special tools I will have to aquire before I start and what problems are common while doing this. Also will I nee to get any new bearing or seals. This is my first time messing with the front end so any info would be helpful. THanx

It's much like doing a ball joint swap -- you gotta yank the axles for that -- so searching on that swap will get you lots of info.

You'll need the magic four-nub socket (local Autozone/CSK/Napa has them) to do the lock ring and some Allen (hex) wrenches and snap ring pliers to remove the locking hub; everything else is your usual socket set stuff.

yep, what dremu said, you basicly remove everything from the steering knuckle. Only special tool you really need is that hub nut socket. If you pick up a service manual for your truck it will give you a good overview of it and be a handy investment for later on.
