Need a new compressor for my garage. Want to do some body work, get into painting and spray my blazer, run a sand blaster, air tools.

A friend of mine owes me and will sell me his IR SS5L5 for cheap https://m.northerntool.com/northerntool/product/detail.do?itemId=1592047

Year old, very little hours. I'm considering because it's cheap and he needs some $

60 gal single stage, 18.1cfm at 90, 135 psi max

Then there is this 60 gal 2 stage Quincy. 15cfm at 175 https://m.northerntool.com/northerntool/product/detail.do?itemId=35239001

Then there is this puma for same $ as the 60 gal Quincy. Downside is life expectancy isn't as long(but still well more than I'd need) and it's less American made from what I can gather. https://m.northerntool.com/northerntool/product/detail.do?itemId=305178
It's 80 gal, 18 cfm at 175

Then there is this Quincy. It's 80 gal and 17 cfm at 175. Draws twice the amps as the puma and is 500$ more https://m.northerntool.com/northerntool/product/detail.do?itemId=325046

I know about anything is work able. How well will the IR keep up though? Will be ALOT cheaper. Otherwise I'm kinda leaning twards the puma. Can't beat the Quincy name though. But alot more $ to still get beaten spec wise. Thanks for any input :)

2 stage kicks ass over single stage. Whatever you get, get 2 stage period.

For heavy use, sand blasting, DA and painting, 60 gal 2 stage is the minimum.

You'll run the bag off of anything else.

i run the second quincy you posted, 60 gal 2 stage.. i paid $1200 shipped for it... it kills it... the 2 stage isn't as quiet as I was hoping for (my expectations may have been a bit lofty), but it bangs out a ton of air.. it'll easily run the most demanding air tools short of big blasters...

I'm sure the IR would do most home enthusiests just fine.. heck, i ran oilless 60 gal for 15 yrs prior.. and IR's quality has always been good.. maybe not quite quincy, but solid... but it is a single stage and may have trouble keeping up with demanding, or multi tools... but for $500 or less, it'd prolly be a nice little deal..

I've barely heard of Puma's.. don't know much about em other than seeing the name around..
