I'm trying to figure out if I'm using the lock washer properly. I have the pre-81 style that uses the bent tabs. I installed it with the lock washer between the nuts. I torqued the outer nut and then bent a tab down into one of the slots on the outer nut.

Is that right. Doesn't seem very efficient, but maybe it's efficient enough. :dunno:

I'm tempted to by a set with the new style pin type lock washer/nut combo.

aslong as that lock washer is in the groove on the spindle to keep it from rotating

bend the tab onto the inner lock nut, so if the outer nut ever loosens the inner one will(should) stay put.

That's what I was wondering. I thought that made more sense.
