I am going to run a DRW 60 front and 70HD rear. I want the extra width because I am lifting this rig somewhere near the clouds. I found one 350 miles away for $50 plus $75 for him meeting me halfway. Is it worth a 6 hour trip (gas, pain in ass, $125) or are these things a pretty regular junkyard find?

Thanks
B

could be a nice sunday drive next weekend, but if I could find one at a junkyard closer for a few bux more......the auction ends in 2 hours, thats why im stressing.

$125 for a D70HD would be in the range of "a steal" IMO. These rears are harder to find than 14FF's because they only came in C and K30's. They are BEEFY. I'd definitely do that trip for that amount to get that rear.

Either I get it and then see two at the junkyard the next week or dont and cant find one for three months. I think I'm gonna go for it.

with 17,000 posts i'm gonna trust that k30guy might have good advice when it comes to k30's

thanks man,

Me personally, would round up as many D70HD's as I could possibly find. Just to keep them on hand as someone out there is always looking for one and there's always someone else out there who already has a stockpile of them. Look at mountainexplorer and his stockpile of D60 front axles. He's got like over 20 of them.

I'm still trying to find another D70HD right now. The last one I had went to another member on this site. I wished I'd kept it cuz it was a very low mileage unit with just over 40K on it and had an open diff with 4.10's. It was very, very clean and now I'm kicking myself.

If its out of a dually I can still convert it to discs and use it as single wheel right? It'll just be wider than normal.

i definitely want to run a d70hd but disc conversion isnt direct "bolt on" as i dont have a welder

Wes, do you NEED or just want an extra 70hd? I've got an extra if you need it.

I want one, not need one. :D Too many parts/projects and not enough time, funds or place to do anything anymore as I don't have my shop anymore. :(

Sounds good. Still a good deal even for the gas fee to drive there, too.
