someone jammed a pre 82 block and heads[ because the dip stick is on opp side}under the edelbrock intake{tbi] of my new 90 sub.It works for now but for me to tweak and so forth i need to id the block and heads.the person that did this blocked exhaust passages that i need for emissions testing not to mention that pesky check light always on! Are there any markings i can look for to i d the year?

look for the cast numbers at the rear of the block. Kind of behind the dist.. Really convenient place for them!!
Suffix code will tell you original application. Passenger side, front of block, where head meets the block. Behind the alternator if it's a passenger side alternator install.
