Hey All!

I recently joined the forums here, and this is my first post :o

I am the proud owner of a 1987 GMC Jimmy, K-5 style. I have had it for a few months and I have been gradually doing upgrades as time/money permits.

It usally runs fine, but on a recent trip the engine completely stopped. No sputter to signal a fuel issue, just a dead stop and the check engine light to signal a code. It restarts just fine, only to die soon after.

Has anyone else ran into anything like this? My best guess is an electrical issue, as it has run fine up until now. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone know of a good GM mechanic in the Orange County, South Los Angeles (CA) area? Thanks in advance for your help!

If you hear the fuel pump kicking on when you turn the key but you arent getting any fuel, its more than likely your ignition module. Any auto parts store can check them. Pull your distributor cap(2 screws). The ignition module is on the bottom and there are 2 screws holding it down and it has 2 plugs on the back. They are about $30.
