My gas gauge is stuck and is not registering. i turn the truck on and it wont move. i took the plastic off so i could get to the needle and i spun it. when i turned the truck back on it jumped right back.. some one please help.... it is driving me insane......

The sender wire is grounded. Disconnect the sender wire from the fuel sender and it should drop. Assuming it does you need to trace the wire and find the "short".

another option is a stuck float. when i first got mine, it did the same thing, but i took it offroad 4 hours after i bought the truck, and it shook the float loose. it stuck again about a month later, so i got under there and kicked the tank. haven't had a problem in 3 years, now.

I had this happen to me once in my crewcab dually, I took a hard right turn and the guage read full. It didnt go back to normal untill I took a hard left turn

Yes, there will be a wire back near the tank (mine was pink) on the drivers side frame rail. If non-EFI, there will a black plastic connector (like the rear license plate lamp connector) that you can disconnect.

don't play wtih your gauge needles, you are asking for trouble.

On a side note for those that have dual tanks and have removed a tank.

If your dash rocker switch gets bumped over to the non-existent tank you'll get the same result. :D :doah:.

IIRC, gauge reading always over full = no ground; always empty = no juice.

i agree with the bad ground. everytime i ever seen a gauge go way past full its a bad ground
