HELP!!! Gear pattern cannot be seen!!!!

This is really pissing me off!! I've installed a new gear-set in my 14-bolt, and when I brushed the supplied compound onto the gear teeth, you couldn't really even see the pattern. I then tried using white grease and still I get the same result! It looks like the grease is being wiped off the entire tooth, not just a small spot like it should???

I need help on how to get a more clear indication of the pattern.

A add a little gear oil to the paint and it marks better.
B move the ring gear away from the pinion if you think it is taking all the paint off.

tooo muck compound probably.put some resistance on the gears.hold your hand over the ring gear and apply pressure as you spin them
