Help hooking up Ebrakes!

Ok, my swap is almost complete. My truck is completely driveable and everything, but I don't have an ebrake. I live on a hill and I've seen cars roll down this hill into other cars and houses so I'd feel a little more comfy with a working ebrake!

I've got a 1984 truck, I understand that changed the Ebrake system in '84. I'm using probably a '76 14 bolt. It has short equal length cables that connect to the backing plates different then mine do.
My factory cable of course is probably like 7 feet on one side and 4 feet on the other.

Any ideas on how to hook this sucker up, other then swapping to disks?(it will happen someday.)

You can go to LMCtruck online, www.lmctruck.com, and view an exploded diagram of the entire assembly. Okay, it's not descriptive on the mechanics side, but at least you'll get pics of the assembly. I don't have a FSM that I can post info. This right now, is the best I can do for you.

You either have to change the backing plates to the newer style and use the factory 84+ e brake cables (this is the route I chose) or have custom cables made with the pre-84 bolt on connection and the length of the 84+ cables.

Other than that you can go disc or get a driveline ebrake.

Someone will chime in about line locks but I do not recommend that. It is just me no proof or anything but I do not feel line locks are a safe alternative for a mechanical parking brake.
