in the bottom pic, that hose should go to the primary vacuum break, i think. in pic above it, the hose from the vacuum timing advance should go to a ported vac source for stock applications. i run mine straight off of full manifold vacuum, though. my truck is exempt from emissions inspecion now.:D

The first pic goes to your evap cannister. The second pic goes to transmission modulator valve, third pic goes to a ported vacuum source on the carb (vacuum only when acceleration).

Im a little confuzed so scine i dont have a conister the first one can stay pluged( Just come up with somthign better to plug it with). Then the one on the manifold goes to my transmission?? can i plug that or do i have to hook it up my tranny is a s465 manual. The one the distributor can connect to the one on the carb ? Im Also excempt from emissions and i need to get my truck running right cant afford cab to collage every day.

What year is this vehicle? Here is a vacuum diagram from 1985:

You can find some diagrams from 1986 here: http://rides.webshots.com/album/547013885fLruYR

If you just find the right diagram it will show you where everything goes. It's pretty important to get that vacuum advance hooked up.

since you have a manual, no line to the trans, Just hook up the vac line to the dist, and you'll be fine.

You DO NOT want full manifold vacuum to the distributor. That would keep the engine timing advanced all the time and that's not how it was designed to work.

OK 1st pic. thats for a PCV valve on top of valve cover about 2"x1/2", rattles when shook fits in rubber gromet
2nd pic is a full vacc sorce from the manifold. Put a cap on it.
3rd and 4th pics go together its the vacc advance.

You CAN run full vacuum manifold to the dizzy. As the throttle opens, the vacuum falls off, just like you would expect. You might want to try it both with a direct manifold source and a ported source (from the carb) to see which the engine prefers.

Just to clarify, I didn't mean to hook up the dist to manifold vacuum, just that ity needed to be hooked up to the appropriate source. And the big hose isn't the pcv, the pcv port is plugged off at the base of the carb, it is the vent for the carb.

Just got home from school and im about to hook it up, So the one that is pluged on the carb will stay pluged, the one on the manifold plug that and the dizzy to the other one on the carb and i should be set? Just making sure i dont want to hurt or screw up any more. I wont fire it up yet i will wait to see if im doing it right, odered a hanyes repair manual off of ebay.

Thanks for all the help, Jason

Another problem, Truck has a bad tick. It ran fine before the guy started to f**K around with it.

Shoot the Guy who Messed it up!And Start turning your own wrenches! That sounds like a collapsed lifter. Maybe someone else will chime in but I don't allow anyone to touch my rig but me! That way I am the one held accountable and I know what I got! :k5:1978 GMC jimmy/Tuff country 3" lift springs/Pro Comp ES 9000 shocks/Fresh 350/Fresh T350/NP203/Dana44/12 Bolt:k5:

I hear a valve ticking and also what appears to be a rod knock. Just at the end of the clip the sound got good enough to hear but then the vid clip ended.

Im plan on only using it if needed now and scoring a ride with a friend, im looking for a fuel injected doner truck when i save few bucks
