From my 442s drum brakes. What the hell is the anchor that the shoes pivot on on the top of the backing plate? Its like a 3/4in bolt in the back, the shoes pivot against it in the front.

I've known it to be an anchor but I cant seem to find a replacement anywhere.

That is the anchor pin and I don't think you can buy it new anywhere so a junk yard is your friend. Is there something wrong with yours? I've never seen or even heard of one being bad before.

You do know its a left hand thread, right??

I'm kidding.:D
As far as I know its normal. But I don't ever remember taking one off.

BTW, in case you ever want to know, that nut that holds the flush lever on a toilet tank IS left hand thread........
If you turn it the wrong way, it spits the tank and all the water pours out on your shoes..........................................................

Or so I have heard.....

Lol.

Well I took it off cause I stripped my housing, parts washed my backing plate, and painted everything. It was holding the top of the backing plate to the axle.

Here are some possibilities.

I didn't know the make or year, so I just located some general anchor pins.

Actually the 442 gave me the make, but not the year.
If those pins don't work, do a search on those sites for your make and year.

If no luck, post the particulars and I will try again.

Yep I was told on the gbody forum that the 2nd gen fbody one you link will work and is the only repro out there.

Cool, at least you can get one. Which one was it? The cheap one or the expensive one? I think it was the expensive one.
Whats weird is, one link is dead already. It was working earlier when I posted it.
But they do have a replacement link.

Lol o ****. Yeah ground up said they just consolidated their 1st and 2nd gen stuff and it changed the links.

I'm gonna have to call them with some measurements just to be sure and if not I guess I'll be hitting a junkyard...
