i need some help here guys, never done this before. i have an oppertunity to get a dodge one ton at a great deal and im wonderin how to swap the front end? what all goes into it? whats diffrent? also if i swap it for my d44 will it work in the dodge? i imagine so. if any of you guys have picks post them up. also does dodge offer a ball joint style and a kingpin? thanks

Dodge spring perch is slightly narrower I believe. Alot of guys just push the springs in to line up the perches and bolt them in. Going this route, your springs, bushings and so on are taking up the difference in perch spacing/spring spacing. I believe its 1/4" per side.

Other solutions i've heard of, moving the holes in the perch that 1/4". I guess that would involve welding up the old holes and drilling new. So does the spring hang off the side of the perch now? Not sure. Most aftermarket lift springs are narrower anyway.

You may also be able to shift the spring some of that distance.

Same problems with the 44 going back in the Dodge. Just backwards.

Not sure on the ball joint question.

thanks kert. what about strength wise? the same arnt they?

As far as I know there aren't any differences strength wise. I believe GM and Dodge outers are the same so, should be comparable to A GM in all respects.

WMS maybe a bit different though. I think Dodge is narrower overall.
