My backup lights on both sides dont work, pulled the assemblies and have no power at the socket. I didnt see any fuse specific for the BU lights but I tested ALL the fuses in the panel and they are all working.

What to check for now? I looked up under the steering column and have no idea what im looking for or at.

Sooooo, im stuck... Help me,,someone HEeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp me. lol :D

I found this switch online..But where does it go?

Found a pic on the net...i looked, i have the same thing on column new firewall, it has 2 wires going to it..how do I get this part out? my manual says there is a screw, I cant see or feel any screw

Yeah,on automatics the neutral safety switch has the backup light switch built into it also, the plug with the two wires should be the back up light ones..jump them together with something like a cotter pin and turn on the key,the lights should work if the wiring isn't the problem...

Far as I know the plug just pulls off ,I had no screw on my switch's plugs...
EDIT:--the switch itself is help on the colum by 2 screws on my '82,but some newer ones might just have plastic push rivet things maybe?..

I wired mine to a toggle switch so I can turn them on when I want too--sometimes my sloppy colum wont let them come on in reverse, and it comes in handy to deter tailgaters when you have manual control...

I think the stop, tail and turn signal fuse also protects the back up lamps, but that might not prove true on every truck...

I think new switches come "pinned" in the proper spot, when you shift it the first time,it shears the pin and allows the switch to work ..

I by-passed my neutral safety, because I had a problem with my engine stalling due to fuel problems one winter, and when your plowing,it sucks having to stop, put it in neutral or park,to crank it back up again...if your pushing a good pile of snow,it can make it impossible to get it moving again...

I also wanted to take the NS switch out of the circuit because I was having the starter only go "click" when I turned the key to crank it over,to see if that might be part of the problem (voltage drop from the ignition to solenoid)--unfortunately its still doing this, and I have tried 2 different starters...

It might be the ignition switch,or maybe I just have two dying solenoids..:dunno:...been thinking about rigging up a push button starter switch..
I rigged a wire under the hood ,so I can jump the solenoid right to the battery, but I'm not sure if that will help any if its the solenoid thats failing...
I've have the starter out of my 6.2 this past month or so 4 times ,and dont feel like doing it a 5th time.....
