I had a 78 k5/ d44/ 12B/3.08/ 350/ 465/ 205/ 4"susp/ 2" body/ 4X4
Now its a 78/ k5/ d44HD/ 14FF/4.11/ 454/ 465/ 205/ 6" susp/ 2" body/ 4X2

the front shackles are 2.5" longer than stock, had 4 degree shims.
I went to 6 degree shims and dropped the tranny an inch.

BUT THE DOUBLE CARDAN STILL BINDS!

WTF?

WOULD LIKE TO GO TO THE GRAVEL PIT TOMORROW:crazy:

Lots of good info out there on this topic.... some things to consider; dropping your tranny/case puts your front driveshaft at a steeper angle because it's pointing the flange further up. With 2.5" longer than stock shackles, your pinion is still probably way to far down even with the shims. ( hard to tell without seeing it) Have you ground out the bumps in the cv portion of your driveshaft? I'd look at all of these things.

thought about grinding cv but how much can I take off around u-joint caps?

I was wondering if it hurt or helped to drop the trans. with everything pivoting at the motor mounts...

think 6" spring as oppossed to the shackles would do it? $$$$:doah:

how much lift does your 77 have to clear those meats?
how did you lift it?
and how did you correct driveline issues?

Ton o ?'s 4 u

were do I find all of said info?
