haha yea and the hoop is a little lopsided. no it will be flat black. but what do you think of the design?

I'm not generally a fan of tube bumpers myself so I'd be the wrong person to ask. I like some beef that I can stand on when working in the engine area and something that will take a good hit. Depends on the use though. Light weight can have big advantages depending on the intended use of the rig.

Are you intending to have a portable winch that slides into the receiver? If so, might want to read up on some of the other threads on that. Lots of folks have started out with that plan and have ended up deciding that it is not the way to go.

no i dont want to use a portable winch. i just want somthing to pull from and i have 2 hitch recievers sitting there so why not.

Jus curious why not?

There have been several threads on it but in a nutshell, most of the folks who have done the receiver up front with a portable winch have regretted it. They are not as strong of a setup, you have to drag it out of your rig at the most inopportune moment, the approach/departure angle is problematic sometimes when you are stuck and you can't get it into the receiver, and a variety of other reasons. Do a search on portable winches and you will see the comments.

I was going to do the portable winch idea also, wouldn't work for me for a few reasons, I carried my 12,000 warn up the small hill where my shop is in the mud with no mounting plate etc on it and it sucked. I'm not a big guy but not a wimp either, dropping a winch on myself would bring the suck for me or whoever I was wheeling with. Storage also crossed my mind, didn't want that thing sliding around the truck hurting my passengers either. Third was thieves, I want to keep what I have, this may not be an issue for some but I'm definitely going to tack the winch and bolts to my bumper.

Those are a lot of the reasons why people have looked into, then shied away from a portable winch. I know some of the scrapes I've gotten my rig into it would have been a nightmare trying to drag a heavy winch on a mount out of the back and then tried to get it inserted in the front or rear bumper. In one case, both my front and rear bumper were jammed into the walls of the small crevice I was wedged into. I was barely able to pull out the line on my front winch bumper as it was.

kinda like this one???

Love it!!!! Did you design it yourself? If so, can you share the drawing/sketch/dimensions? I'm always surprised with so many creative, innovative and skilled members on CK5 that more don't share their designs for others to utilize or work from.

How much did the fab work cost you?

chrisperry beat me to ur answer 73...its a blazenoffroad design w/extra set of light tabs & reciever hitch n tha front...was around $720 shipped IIRC...
