I am looking at head options for a 350 motor, bored 30 over. Flat top pistons and one of 2 cams (not fully decided yet). Cam spec I am leaning towards is a COMP Cam for 2,000-6000 RPM 230/230 and .480/.480 lift or an Edlebrock 234/244 488/510. My over all goal is a strong running street motor for a 1972 Chevy 2wd pickup. Basically I am looking to get from 0-60 fast, but not worried about past that except for occasional highway trip, but that would be cruising speeds. I am running a edlebrock proformer 2010 intake a holley 650 avenger carb and for now stock headers to cherry bombs (not enough money in budget to get my better headers). I am also running 8mm spark plugs and the HEI.

So my head options:

Low end: iron head - 190cc 64cc with 1.94/1.50 valves for 279

Mid Range: iron head 210cc 64cc with 2.02/1.60 SST valves for $399 (for $100 more I can get screw in studs and hardened rods)

Or the higher end: Aluminum head 190 or 210runner with 64 cc 2.02/1.60 Cost $595

All heads have been check/worked by shops with good reviews etc.

Will i get that much gain from one head to the next? What would you do on a tighter budget? I can afford all 3, but the higher price means sacrifice elsewhere...

A lot of it has to do with combustion chamber design if it has the new fast burn chamber I would lean more towards it because its more efficient and requires less spark advance which means less of a chance for detonation just my .02 cents and I would look more at a comp extreme energy 274 cam its 230/236

Ive used the comps, and edlebrocks but I think the Lunati Voodoo series are a better cam. They make them in the same specs your looking at but they seem to perform better.

+one for the Lunati Voodoo cams

Also look into the Patriot Performance vortec cylinder heads or the Freedom Series aluminum heads. Great quality for the money!

Careful with 64cc heads and flat tops, your compression ratio is going to be HIGH...

I have valve reliefs in my pistons and am running 64cc heads, 93 octane is a must!
