Trying to setup something for my tow rig/DD. It's not gonna be a mind blowing system but something that I can turn up when a good song comes on. I've narrowed it down to a couple choices, now I may be way off so if you see something that isn't gonna work let me know.

I'm gonna be running this head unit

For the fronts I'm trying to decide between these component setups:

for the rears, I'm narrowed down to these:

And I'm guessing I'm gonna need an AMP as well. I'm really lost on those. But as you can see the prices on the above parts what mu budget is.

Probably first thing to know is what kind of truck is this going in? Locations & mounting of speakers may wind up being more important than what brand you use.
That being said probably all of your choices will be fine for a nice basic, clean sounding system. Most die hard car audio guys will probably tell you to skip the rear speakers and focus on your front stage sounding good & full. Any subwoofer(s) plans in this system to fill in those low frequencies?
Me, personally I'm not a big fan of Jensen or flip out screens in general but you have to like what is going in your vehicle. I like to play with stuff hands on in the store or in someones vehicle. Some stuff looks cool in magazines or online but then you go to use it and it's not user friendly or stupid stuff like you have to go in 6 different screens just to change the eq setting.

This is all going in a 95 chevy 3500 crew cab dually. The fronts are in the door with a 6 1/2 with a separate 1in tweeter. the rears are the 4x6 in the c pillar/rear cab above the rear seats. As of now I'm not putting in a sub, not because I don't want one, just money won't allow.

Are you putting rear speakers in for people that sit back there or trying to add some rear fill?

What about getting a regular cd deck=less money and use the extra for an amp/sub?
Are you opposed to used equipment? I've bought several used amps, decks, etc and gotten much better equipment and saved a bundle.

I want the dvd player since this truck is usually used for long drives and it will be nice to be able to have movies playing. I have a couple amps sitting around I need to take a look at them and see if they may work.

second, yeah I saw the kickers but don't really know much about the brand. cheapos? nice? lasting? any experience with them and how they sound.

I used to sell car audio, and I *strongly* recommend you go to your local car stereo store, bring a favorite CD or 5, and then listen to a few tracks that you KNOW and pick the speakers which sound the best.

Ask the sales guys which speakers they think sound the best. Then ask which speakers most of their customers sound the best. Then play them and compare them.

Back in the 90's Infinity made a pair of $99 speakers that simply blew everything away, with the exception of the super expensive speakers and even then it wasn't that big of a difference. I sold those speakers to 95% of my customers after they compared them to the others. And not one single pair was ever returned or exchanged.

Let your ear be the guide!

I work at a shop now and next to JL Audio stuff IMO kicker is the best. Check out their website. They started out doing only car and they are damn good at it. Especially for the price. They are very good quality and should last a long time. The KS series is great as well, they have some higher end stuff but the KS is an excellent speaker that would be in your price range. IMO wayyy better than Pioneer.

just basing on what i have installed in the past, the fosgate punch speakers are very econiomical and sound pretty good. i have used them in a couple trucks now. i am currently installing some in my 85 toyota pickup with a couple amps and a sub.

i installed a set of kicker 6x9's in a polaris rzr with a sub and a coiuple amps and the system is very loud and clear for an open cockpit vehicle.

in a couple higher end installs i did i used mb quart, boston acoustics, alpine, diamond audio.

whatever you go with install an amp. even the cheapest speakers come alive with some power behind them.

I would go with the pioneer D-series speakers however you need an amp for them and a 4-channel amp might be to much power for those pioneer 4x6s. Turn down the gains for the rear speakers.. For amp I'd go with
Budjethttp://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_18800_PowerBass+ASA+400.4x.htmlor for a little more http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_16645_Pioneer+GM-6400F.html If you want to spend the money you could get more power but you'd be happy with those and won't have to worry about blowing speakers as much. I run pioneer D series in my car and really like them, they have a smooth transition between notes.
