I've been looking for a 2 door 96-99 tahoe with a 6.5TD or a 96 or 97 Yukon with said motor. I know where to search, etc, but was wondering if you fella's come across one in your travels to post it up here.
Leather would be nice, but totally not a deal breaker. Must have all the goodies, cruise, tilt, air, pw/pl. Grey interior preferably.
Must be good in the rust/body dept. Trucks from Arizona, Texas, Cali etc.
I'm offering a finders fee for any truck I buy.
Thanks in advance guys.

Good Luck. I know they build 6.5 diesel Blazers (92-94), but i am not positive they built them after 94. 95 is when they changed the name to Tahoe. If they did, they are rarer than the blazer ones even. I will keep my eyes open, but seriously, going to be a tough search.

What are your emissions laws up there? Woudl a swap make sense?

I am working on getting my 94 ready for sale for $3000US down there. Would it make sense to swap into that? Body is clean, could use paint, clean interior. Some front end work has been done, all that hasn't been replaced would be lower bj's, lower control arm bushings.

Anyways, pm me if that might be interesting. Forgot im not supposed to whore my for sale stuff outside of the classifieds:

They pop up once in a while. I had a 97 tahoe with a 6.5. Unfortunately I HAD a wife at the time too... Both gone.
Loved that truck.

Did they build a 4 door tahoe with a diesel? Or just the 2 door?

Are you opposed to finding a 3/4 ton burb? Would be a way easier search.....

*PRETTY* sure they only made them in the 2 doors.

Saw a nice one on Ebay a while ago. Had me tempted but too far, no connections, too much, and I'm leary of GM IFS.

AFAIK no 4-door diesels, but I would give my left two lugnuts for something like that!

There's a green 3/4 ton diesel GMC sub for sale in Skagway I saw there on my way north this year. Power everything, leather, tail gate, driving lights, etc. I almost traded the Yukon for it. Wow.

That's nice...ever go hard wheeling with it? I did...

I'm not a huge fan of IFS, but for my intended application it'll be more than adequate. I had a 88 chev 3/4 ton as my first welding truck. Rode really nice, but I put a $1000 in parts in the front end after my first winter up north. Went to Dodge diesels after that.:D

I've put airspace under my front tires every now and then... also some mudding, potholey dirt roads at speed, the ALCAN, the Cassiar highway, etc. Also I have done the whole Shawn thing and have jumped it once or twice, to no ill effect. My poor Yukon has been tried...

Mine definitely didn't like the rock crawling. 33's + rock crawling in SoCal led to replacing everything. Thing was I didn't do a lot of it or do it that often...

Huh, I wonder why we have had such different experience with our rigs? Just the Cassiar highway alone can be enough to make one to take his truck in, but mine is still tight as can be. Hmmm...

No clue. I still maintain if yours is as tight as you say (no, I'm not doubting you) then it's the exception. My time in the IFS crowd on ORC/Chevy showed that my experience was very normal with folks who wheeled their IFS trucks harder than "hey, a dirt road - let's drive down it - slowly..."

check this one out if you're still lookin eBay motors #250461015629 says it's only 1 of 5 ever made???:dunno:

Maybe he means that day or something...there were plenty of 6.5L powered 2 door Tahoes and Yukons.
