I have a '73 Burb. with a 350 and TH350 tranny. I have all the bolts out of the transmition, both against the motor and transfer case. Why won't my tranny come out? I have the motor blocked up so it stays in place...but I can still hang from the tranny with no movement. Please help, I need to finish this soon!

Thank You

If the tranny has been on for a long time you can get some corrosion between the steel locating pins and the aluminum case. They sometimes stick pretty good use a small pry bar between the torque converter and flywheel and wiggle it and it should slid off of the pins.

Do you mean pins between the block and tranny?

What is a bell housing pan? do you mean the dust cover or the tranny pan?

I just did this last week for the second time. It sounds like all the bolts are loose. All cables, and Dip stick have been removed? How about the shifter linkage? If all this is done, It sounds like what is mentioned before. The shaft connecting the engine to the tranny that the torque converter is on is causing the problem. Youve got to just get mean with the thing. But be careful too. Youve got to wiggle it up and down, and left and right at the same time as you are pushing it to the rear of the vehicle.
Good luck

:o Obviously I am not the sharpest tool in the box :doah: :o ... This being the first time I have taken the tranny out of this type of rig I was unaware (read not thinking) about removing the cross member and just dropping it all down, t-case and all.
Once I did that it came right out :woot: .

Thanks for all your help, I guess we'll see how it goes  .
