Help me get to work tomorrow!

My alternator isn't charging. I've got a spare but it has a serp pulley that I need to switch to 'v' pulley. So far I'm not having any luck getting the pulley off. No air in my new garage yet to use the impact...

Right now it's soaking in penetrant so hopefully that helps.

Any ideas?

if you can put it in a vise and put a cloth around the pulley so it doesnt gouge it up! you might be able to tighten it up and use a breaker bar to get the nut to spin free... might do the trick

The cloth was a great tip. But it still didn't work. Thanks anyway. I lucked out though, a parts store was still open, and they had an alternator!

AND my battery got me there and back!

Must be my night. The down side is that I was JUST planning to go get mine rewound for a higher amperage, so it's wasted money but what are you going to do I guess.

hehe not that it did any good! I'm going to get the old one rewound for higher amps and I'll keep the new one as a spare now.
