last year of the solid axles was 91 for the blazers, suburbans, and 1 ton trucks.

87 was the last year of the solid axle k10's and k20's i believe

81-88 double square headlights was a Silverado thing, other models had single square headlights. Somebody will correct me if I'm wrong.

Keep in mind that those are the main variations of headlight arangements and grill styles. There are several other styles out there depending on the trim level of the vehical.

Commercial vehicles (fleet) had them, so that makes sense.

Like others stated, base model '81-91 K5's, burbs, and crews had a different grille and a pair of headlamps.

1980 was the funky year, 70's body, but with square headlights, it was like GM couldn't quite figure out what to do when they were designing the '80 in '79.

Blazers went to IFS when the body style changed in 1992 and were technically now Tahoes.

Real Blazers have round headlights......LOL!

Just joking!

88 could be had with the 4 headlight set up as well
but it with every other year just depends on the option package
my current 90 has two singles

No, they were still Blazers in '92, just not K5s. The Tahoe tag came a couple years later.

Full Size Jimmys ended at 91. IFS Yukons started in 92.
I believe the IFS Blazers ran from 92 to 94 and became Tahoes in 95.

Just to be argumentative:

I have an '80 with round headlights and a buddy of mine has an '89 with single square headlights. :D

GM went kind of wacky in the headlight department...

That is just wierd. How long have you owned it? Are you positive a previous owner didn't chnage the grille assembly?

and a buddy of mine has an '89 with single square headlights.

This is common, it's called a base model truck with no bells and wistles...steel wheels, no carpet, black guage panel, and two single headlights, among other missing items.

Technically yes, but I call them all Tahoes becuase it's the same thing through all those years...a blazer has a top that comes off, leaf springs, and a strait axle.:wink1:

just to through something else into all this...some of you sure you've got a stocker front clip?

Actually, round headlights on an '80 isn't that weird. Unless Blazers are different than pickups for some reason.

I've owned it since '97. All of the parts look old enough to be original (I just stripped the front end down a couple weeks ago), so I can't imagine anybody changed anything unless they did it in like 1981 or something.

Interesting, I've never seen a stock 1980 with round headlights.

It might have been made when they were just changing to the square headlight style. They might have just been using up parts they had lying around.

I looked on autotrader and about half had round and half had square.

It was a transition year. If it really mattered that much to somebody, I'm sure they could figure out which plants switched to square on what date.

Me? I don't really give a rat's ass either way. :D
