So i need a new set of tires for my duramax dd.. It's my only running 4x4 at the moment. So I tend to use it to play with occasionally. I'm wanting a good m/t that has good wet road performance and no issues pulling. I'm looking at 35/12.50/20's since i'm getting ready to put a 4-4 lift on my truck.

I don't expect them to last too long because I tend to smoke them off a little too often now that my duramax spends it's life on the max effort tune... probably only get 12-18 months out of the set no matter which ones i buy...

My top 2 choices right now are

firestone destination m/t's at $950 a set before mounting and balance.

mastercraft courser mtx are about $1050.

Opinions? any others in this price range i should consider?

No experience with that firestone, but lots of the mastercraft mt running around here....seem like about a 10k tire.
A friend had them on a gas chevy and they were wasted at 12k.

And like always, if somebody needs an mt tire, I vote toyo mt. My 40 inch toyo mt have very little wear at close to 5500 miles, and rode nice and smooth with no balancing till one got a bit of a flat spot when I had to jump on the brakes.

I have Mastercraft Courser ATs on the dodge right now. 42k on them hauling the cummins around and judging by the tread left, I'll easily get the 50,000+ miles for which they're rated. I would definitely get them again. IDK why Mastercraft (Cooper) doesn't offer a mileage rating for their MTs. Maybe because they know so many people are using them for hardcore off road and prematurely wear them down? I would be surprise if their MTs don't get close to the same mileage as the ATs. They're using the same basic carcass and rubber compounds. Just make sure you get load range E and most modern tires should last, probably why some of the ones mentioned above only got 10-12 k.

I'd look at Cooper ST maxx and STT pros, too. I have a friend w/ STTs on large rims under his stupid duty and they're holding up fine for a few years now.

Diesel Brothers are selling Patriot tires that are supposed to be designed for the heavier diesel trucks. Haven't seen any reviews so don't know if they're any good or just another crappy imported brand.

What rig? Had a horrible experience with those tires on a Dodge diesel.

They are on 91 burb. This is the 3rd set of toyo mts I have had on it, with no problems. Usually sell them at 1/2 tread which has been about 15-20k

Kinda disappointing to hear bad about the mastercraft tires. I read a lot of good reviews on them though... I also like what i have read about the firestones. I refuse to spend $300+ per tire since i spin them pretty much daily... I drive like an a** so tires never really last me a long time...

My dad used to say that i would grow out of it, but after having my license 15+ years I have only slightly calmed down lol... After kids it mellowed me out some, but I still like to play

The toyos seem to harden up quite a bit after about a year, I have always wondered if the people who burn through them are putting a bunch of miles on when they are new.

I have personally seen 65k (verified by paperwork) on a duramax pickup, no towing, and all highway miles. They were garbage at that point, and probably shouldn't have been driven on that last 5k.

2-2.5 years per set, truck was brand new with the first set. When I spoke with Americas Tire they said they see a lot of poor wear from those tires on heavy Diesel rigs.

Not a MT but I have a Toyo AT2, installed on my truck at 118,000 miles now it has 167,000 miles, and I am real proud to say I have another winter out of them, now it has half thread. have paperwork to prove it too. Im sold, my next set will be the same 285 70 17 Rated E.

I have a 2005 Duramax, EFI live, seen max effort sometimes, most of the time its on tow level 2 or sport level 3. I dont do alot of burn out, but love the rolling burn out when taking off fast. gives you a idea of the tires.

Another vote for TOYO AT2! Also liked the Pro Comp AT. Both work great and I've gotten good milage and wear on them. Rotate and check air. Good tires on my Super Duty.

This has been my experience with toyo's as well. Mine got so hard I ended up ditching them for winter time use because they were borderline dangerous in the rain, said gen though they had a decent amount of tread left on them.
