Hi!
I got another part number I can't identify :doah: It's 12064527, it should be a Diesel wiring harness again... it would be great if somebody finds out something about it.
By the way:
is there any www-page where you can identify part numbers, especially discontinued or older ones?
Thanks again! :bow: :bow:

If someone posts a resource for disco'd part numbers, I'd like to hear it to. Only one I know of is the GM parts counter guys themselves.

The way I've done it is punch it into yahoo or google, and see what comes up. Sometimes add "GM", "chevrolet", "wiring", "harness", whatever to the number that cuts down on the web site hits that have just a number, that ends up having nothing to do with your GM parts search.

Doesn't work all the time obviously, but sometimes people or entities are selling old parts, and happen to know what they fit. No luck on your number though, sorry.

@Dorian:
Yes, google is always a good idea, I found several parts sources by using google. Unfortunately google didn't find anything about that number.

is there any parts book or something like that with all 1973-1991 C/K Truck Part Numbers ? (I have the the Chevy shop manual but there are no part numbers in it unfortunately)

I have a 1985-1988 GM parts manual. It's actually two sections, one with illustrations and most part numbers, then another one that breaks down things that are more specific, like a particular ring and pinion combination part number.

I believe nowadays the dealerships have information on a disk or online, but no idea when they started that, and how far back their information goes.

There are parts manuals, but they're organized by part, not by number (and there's no reverse index!) so you'd have to read the entire thing searching by hand :(

The parts manuals are also only good for a few years' worth of models ... I think mine goes through ~83 or so, which is fine for my '74's, but you get the idea.

They were intended for dealer use; I think mine came from Ebay though I got them from a buddy of mine who gave me his duplicate copies.

I did some google research yesterday and it seems that there are part numbers - cds available, but only up to 1979.... about 49$ each.

@dremu:
are you talking about something like that? :wink1: I think that would be a good buy. but $$ maybe I'll find a cheaper one http://cgi.ebay.com/1987-CHEVROLET-LIGHT-TRUCK-10-30-PARTS-BOOK-MANUAL_W0QQitemZ190130561730QQihZ009QQcategoryZ35930QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Yeah; mine are older and are separate parts vs. illustrations, but that looks to be the same idea.

Dorian, are yours like that?

Sorry, can't look at the link right now. I will check it out tonight when I get home.

That's what the cover of mine looks like, except there are two parts (Parts, and Illustrations, go figure) and I don't have the Illustrations section cover.

As I stated before, the illustrations section/half lists MOST part numbers, but when talking about stuff like gear ratios, speedometer gears, emblems, etc., you have to look them up in the Parts section by the group number cited in the Illustration portion. Pretty useless for smaller/specific stuff to not have BOTH sections. They state it has the text and illustrations, I'd want to make sure one half is ALL text, no pictures, (also lists all the RPO's, etc) and the other is 50% illustrations.

The Army published their own parts/illustrations catalog, which is freely available online, and DOES cross-reference the GM part numbers. Obviously they won't be as comprehensive as the civilian version (there was much less variety in the Army trucks) but for diesel specific stuff, I would suspect it would be pretty good.

Aha!

I didn't know that the GM part numbers were in there -- I figgered it would just be NSN's -- but I do have all those TM's in PDF format on my brochures page
