mines in the same place.when you turn it full both ways nothing happens?no lights get brighter in the guages?is your rig running?:dunno: just need to know.

I start the truck up, pull it half the way out, turn it both ways all the way then pull it all the way out and do the same. nothing happens at all no matter what i do.

and you have brake lights?if you have brake lights(TRY THE REAR RUNNING LIGHTS) then your switch might be bad.

I have brake lights, hazards dont work and nether does turnsignals.

what do you mean by rear running lights?

when you turnon the lights, the lights in the tail lights come on and the front turn signals (not binking) come on.

well guess your going to have to start somewhere... headlight switch then something else...

now this is a super long shot..... as this was my problem... but I had different issues...

take a meter or test light and see if all your spots on your fusebox work.. check the fuses and even the parts where your plugged into...

I had an issue just a week or 2 ago.. I lost all bat spots on my fuse box.... truck ran, had turn signals and hazzards but had no headlights, highbeams, horn, cig lighter or brake lights (push them in and no light)

turns out mine was a wire in the fusebox under the dash.. it rubbed another wire then shorted against that wire.... so voltage was being shorted down and killing everything... my father said stuff like that is very common with our fuse boxes.....
it is easy to take apart too.. just 2 screws.. very long ones.. and you will see 4 posts that are plastic.. they unclick and seperate.. you can leave the harnesses under the hood still plugged in... so once you do that.. seperate the wires and try your lights and look at the wires.. for any bare spots...

dont believe that works im going to check tomorrow.

root tommorrow i'll try to take a look

OK I was just out side checking stuff, I checked the connection to the headlights, they have no corrosion and its snug fit, the grounds on the firewall are fine nice and firm. I also chased the wires around in the engine compartment and they all seemed fine. So now im pretty sure its the light switch itself.

This is the style I have.

Excuse the mess.

Could anyone tell me what this is? I think its the dimmer switch newuser was talking about.

If I push it in, it does nothing as far as i can tell.

Thanks again.

Thanks for clearing that up.

also that can be bought at autozone or advance auto parts for like $5... I have one that I would sell you as it is brand new but $5 shipping would get you the new $5 part....

and a new headlight switch is $12.99....

i dont care if you are a broke high school kid or a cracko that lives per baggie...

$20 to aleve the issues of those components.... definitely the way to go....
you know they are new and it is wiring.....

trust me after you deal with issues like this.. it is only with great joy to have electrical issues fixed......

Yes I can afford these, but id rather test them before buying a part and im not sure how I would go about doing this.

Again guys thanks a million.

I wasnt trying to be rude if you took it that way... I figured you can test away.. but you dont know how.. even if you did... sometimes there are slight issues... sometimes easier to replace... and not have to stress out on testing...

that is all I was saying... if it wasnt that cheap of a part Id mail you both as I have extras on the shelf for free just shipping... but they are so cheap...

:wink1:
