i got a 79 3/4ton gmc 4x4 truck.. i had the truck running but a power wire got wrapped around my stearing and pulled it from somewhere instantly killing the motor.. ok ill try to expliain it the best i can.. the red wire that has a little black boot, its like this ----OO<=== get it??? red wire comes out of wireing harness by the distributer on the drivers side of motor that one wire goes into a black boot then y's off.. had that to the power but dont know where the other part of the y came out of.. i got head lights..but not igniton...do you guys know what im talking about??? i checked all fuses... if no one knows can someone give me the way to wire it up so that it will start. please help. im going to work on it in a few.. so please ASAP!! thanx fellas.....
 
Look on the distributor cap, there are 3 terminals. One has the ignition module plug into it (sort of a rectangle plug), the other two are labled. One says BATT the other TACH. Is there anything pluged into the BATT one? If not, then put 12volts to it and see if it fires up. I don't know how it could have gotten wrapped around the steering though, it's kind of short and out of the way. But that's the only wire I can think of that would kill the motor like that.
