I am reinstalling my ashtray (had to fix the spring that held it up) and my glovebox. Problem is, there is a black light mount (about the size of a golf ball) that is incorporated in the wiring that also goes to the cig lighter hot wire. Does anyone know where this light goes??? I can not remember. If a pic is needed, let me know, if not...any help is appreciated.

Should be the floor light, which screws in just to the drivers side of the glove box, on the lower metal edge of the dash. Closest to the floor, imagine that. : ) There is one screw that threads into it, you just put the screw through one of the holes in that lower lip of the dash.

Why insist on counting when the ring gear has the tooth counts stamped in?

Here is a picture of the light mount - is this the same one you are referring to?

Yep, thats it. See the little threaded hole in it? Just look around along that lower lip of the steel part of the dash, right next to where the floor heater outlet is for the passenger. you should see some holes already there, the angle of the bracket puts the light in the right spot to shine on the floor. It might be a bit more towards the drivers side, but its in that area.
