on the way home from work tonight my DD k5 started actin up.

on accelleration it would be like theres a miss and a sure loss of power. also would be bucking and vibrating like crazy. shifting late or early and very unpredictable, also would feel like its always slipping as the RPMs were much higher. fluid was in good shape and not burnt smelling or dark. did something just come unplugged? pleeeeeeease be that.

or is it upgrade time?

Stop driving it and have a look in the pan. The vibrating and shaking makes me think there is material in the gears. Wherever it came from, it's bad.

lovely, but whats this thing do on the pass side and why is it all over my exhaust pipe? its thight in the case, it looks like the plug it self is leaking?

no pieces were in the pan but the magnet ad bottom of pan was dirty. worse than when i changed it after 12k and now its around 20k. fluid itself was OK but the junk in the bottom was pretty bad.

My original 700r did that on the way to school one day... shortly after I was buying a new tranny. :)

I'd take it to a shop and have them check it out.

The only other time I had bucking/missing/slipping like that was when my fuel pump was going out...

I have no idea what that sender is on the passenger side. That trans looks like it is 1988 or later with the AUX valve body (same as mine) and i don't have that sender on mine.

some after market tcc lockup kits use a exturnal presure switch to lockup the converter when the trans shifts into 4th gear. A presure leak would cause the trans to act strange also the throtle cable on the 700r4 (4l60) is used to tell the trans what gear to be in and how hard or soft the trans should shift if the cable is not adjusted right or the valve is sticking can cause the trans to shift hard or soft or even shift eratic.

First fix the leak. If that dose not do the job have a trans shop look at it. You can adjust the cable your self but if you do it wrong you can burn the trans up.

Yes, it's a pressure switch. Fix the leak and see what happens. You could probably get a shop to put a pressure gauge on the tranny for a nominal charge (or free). If you are really luckly, your only problem is a pressure leak.

If there is a lot of stuff in the pan, you might have stuff in the valve body. If so, cleaning the valve body could get you back to normal operation temporarily. If the tranny is spitting out material, something is wrong and it needs to be torn down.
