Help please

[95 short box standard]

I’ve got a 95 short box standard 4x4 with 305 . Have two 6.2 turbo diesels part trucks want to covert my gas job to 6.2 were do I find references to do so . I’m not the greatest mechanic but I ain’t stupid so any help would be appreciated

GMT400 are not the house specialty, but many of us know them well enough. What years are 6.2's. Not sure if this swap has been address here before, but we are not afraid to try if you aren't.

Are you sure it's a 6.2?
95 should be a 6.5 and electronic injection pump.
Most came turbo, but I have seen some normally aspirated

U are right my friend it’s a 6.5 in the 95 . Also have a 6.2 turbo in other truck is it true the 6.5 is a better motor ?

Well it is bigger and everyone knows bigger is better, plus most 6.5 diesels I have are turbo, all but one that came in the bread van

It's going to be similar to the swap in a squarebody, except yours should have an ECM. https://ck5.com/forums/threads/how-...-suburbab-v1500-4x4-gas-with-a-350-v8.323752/. Since the diesel was offered in 95 you'll be able to use all factory parts. Since you have donor trucks you should be able to spot all the differences as you're pulling the engines. Keep the harness with the engine. You'll want to use the torque converter for a diesel. Look at the radiators. The diesel one may be bigger. Again, having donor trucks greatly simplifies this project.

What gear ratio does this 95 have?

You don't really need a manual... You want to put all the 6.5 diesel parts into the new chassis.....

Just putting a 5.7 long block in would be cheaper + simplest

And I’m pretty sure it’s 373 gearing

Chevy did 5.7l in 88, before that is was the sbc 350 in 1969.
