HELP QUICK!

Trying to hook up my new tach, but not sure what wire to hook to off the coil.

It's an 87 TBI with coil off the cap and it ain't labeled!

I'm guessing it doesn't want the heavy red wire since it said the neg side of the coil.
So I'm lost help!

And the sun is setting in Ohio so please be quick!

what color wires are coming off the tach.
if i remember correctly , the white wite off the coil is
the correct one. but wait to see if someone else chimes
in.
i know on my 88 s15 when i put a tach in from another
truck i hooked one wire from the tach , to the white one off the coil. not su

Well one of the wires had a plug on it and wasn't connected to anything.

I assumed this would be the tach test wire, so I'm hooked up to that one right now and getting a reading, which sounds pretty close.

I really can't tell what color anything is in there anymore it's so dirty /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif so I was half guessing.

The one with the plug on it is the wire for the tach.
