It worked this morning, but after coming back from the brush pit, It wouldn't go back up. I thought maybe there was part of a branch or something stuck somewhere, since I just unloaded a bunch of small brush, but it looks clear. There is power when I go to put it down, but it seems as if there is no power to get it up. I tried using both the switch up front and the key, nothing. Were expecting rain tonight and I don't want to have this down. How can I troubleshoot, what can I do to at least get it back up.

Thanks

Remove the access panel and then unscrew the cable from the motor. It's very similar to a speedo cable. Now chuck up your handy cordless drill to it and try reverse slowly to see if you're turning the right direction. If not, switch to the other direction and slowly drive the window back up.

Chances are good the tailgate isn't 100% latched though. On each side there is an interlock switch that prevents the glass from going up if the gate is even slightly open. I'm thinking with all the brush and debris this is keeping the gate slightly open, or has otherwise fouled the interlock set-up.

On mine it did that because the UP wire was bad or disconnected, so I had to actually take the down wire, hook it to the UP side of the motor and use the DOWN switch to make the window go UP.

If you understand that....

Fixed it

After taking the panel off, I could see that the plug was disconnected on the left side. After trying to wrangle my hand inside the gate, I finally got the plug back on.

Works like a charm now, and just in time (thunderstorms).

Thanks for the feedback.
