I would like to replace the back window on my 1991 Jimmy. The original one is scratched, scuffed, and everything else. It also has that factory safety "screen" (not metal screen; but some screen like material) applied to the inside. I want a clean piece of glass so I can have it tinted nice and dark. Most salvage yards will not separate the glass from the gate, even if you do find a decent piece of glass. What is available for after market?

I got my rear glass installed professionally here in TX for $150. No tint on it, but it was done in no time.

150 parts and labor? Im having the same problem with my back window! Its called DOT matrix and the tint wont tick to it most times....especially if you use the window....Sucks:doah:

I will be doing this as well. I had an extra tailgate with good glass in it (tinted). I'm going to try to tackle it myself, but I also had it priced out at a local glass shop. They told me I could get a brand new tinted rear window for $100, not including installation and they had 2 in stock. Thats here in Canuckistan though..

Yep, $150 parts and labor. Dropped it at lunch, picked it up after work.
