Help Stuck in 2wd

my 83 wont come out of 2wd when the hubs are locked in and when the hubs are free the front driveline wont turn?

the same thing happened to my buddies 84 chebby, he busted something in the transfer case and the 4hi was getting stuck, not allowing the front drive shaft to turn.

so do i have to by a new transfer case?

if that is your problem...you should put the tranny in neutral and see if the rear driveshaft spins, check your linkages or even check out the front diff. i dont want to make someone go out and spend unnessary money. i was just saying that was one experience that i have encountered.
