I have the opportunity to get the proflo vicjr manifold w/ injectors, fuel rails, and the 1000cfm 4barrel. It does not have the ECM, wiring harness, or anything else that came in the full kit. Is it worth it? I can't seem to find out if I can order just the ecm and a wiring harness with the hall effect sensor or if I have to buy a complete package. The description of the Pro-Flo upgrade kit on summit says that wiring harness is not included? Anybody know any different?

I know what I'd do if I found a good deal on an Edelbrock Pro Flow system. Id use factory TPI stuff like I did on the 454 MPFI project. http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=254023 So what if I used a Camaro TPI computer and wiring harness to run the Vortec injectors. Works great!:D The injectors don't care what computer is hooked up to them, but the computer needs to match the injector impedance. Heck I even used a V6 wiring harness, except I modified the V6 injector harness to fit the Vortec V8 injector harness. Most importantly, I programmed the PROM myself.

Yup, i've been studying the wiring diagram on the edelbrock site, looking for flashable ECMs, and all other sorts of research since last night. Guy bought the thing 4 years ago, never installed it, and I talked him down to 350.00 cause I told him it was gonna take me about 2500.00 to make it work on any motor much less mine and because the complete kit from edelbrock would be 3100, paying 700.00 like he wanted just wasn't gonna be a deal for me, or anyone else for that matter. Think I'm probably gonna do it, and if I can't figure something out with a stock configuration FAST makes a retrofit MPFI kit for 918.00 so I'll have a highly capable aftermarket FI setup for half the price at the very most. Thanks for your suggestions, I'm gonna go read the thread you posted now and keep my dreams alive despite my wife's dirty looks.

Use an ohm meter on the injectors to measure the impedance. The GM 7730 ECM like I used on the 454 MPFI can operate 8 injectors with only 12 ohms per injector. The GM 7730 needs a HEI module to work. I figure with some salvage yard V6 FWD parts, I could get the Edelbrock Pro Flow going for only a few hundred $$$ or less. The big cost savings for me is I know how to get the FWD V6 cheap stuff to work a V8.

I'm fixing to get this going ASAP, I might be picking your brain a little bit from time to time if you don't mind dave. This is why I love ck5, someone out there has been as curious/crazy as you and already done it, and they don't mind sharing a little. I posted this same question on the Edelbrock FI forum and have had absolutely zero response, pretty sad really.

Im using a vortec truck comp. to run my TPI. Later plans are to swap to the 0411 PCm and run coil per cylinder. Thats a few years down the road though.
