Help w/shackles

I have an 87 K5, the question I have is, We raised the rear 3 inches,with blocks, got some shackles for the front, but when we tryed to install the shackles it seems that we can't figure out what all we need to take loose to get the springs to drop enough to install the shackles. Help! later RJ

jack the front of the truck up off the ground. then remove the rear shackle, if the spring doesnt come down far enough for your shackle then the shackle is probably to long and you are maxing out you shocks... How long are the shackles?

The shackles are about 5 inches long with four holes. I want to get about 2.5 inches out of them.
