Well my sister got this car FOR FREE from our cousin that owns a tow company.

Its a 1988 ford crown vic. 5.0 motor. well the brought it up like 2 weeks ago and they said it ran fine gettin up here, then we got alot of snow so its been parked up till today. We called got insurance on it and i took it for a test drive to make sure its safe for her to drive. So i take it out and it handles good. Tranny seem to be slipping going into overdrive, So i just used regular drive and it ran fine, Real rough and no power from a dead stop but once she got going it ran fine.

So i get back home put it in park and it dies. Go to start it again and it dies. The only way i can get it to run is starting it in neutral As soon as u put it in reverse it dies. If u put it in drive it runs but wont move. Also heard a sound coming from the TC area.

So any ideas guys? My sisters first car and i break the dang thing before she gets to drive it, I feel like an ass:haha:. I have a feeling its either the TC or tranny.

Any help guys?

Look at the tranny pan. If it is an ex cop car, they were famous for getting the pan smashed and messing up some sensor or solenoid in there. When that used to happen to mine, the first thing I would loose was overdrive. It would start acting just like you describe.
