Again, you fail to get the friggin' point. Don't you even read the posts. Here, I'll repost it here for you:
Hey Guys,
This was meant to be a simple post just to help stop a fellow wheeler from possibly making a poor business decision.
- He has 10 Bolts-front and rear. He wants to upgrade to a D60/14BFF combo, to run 35's, possibly larger down the road.
- Along come a couple of crawlers who tell him that a 14BFF is no good because he will lose ground clearance. That was the whole of their argument.
- They spun the story enough to make this young guy change his whole game plan, drop down to 33's and want to get a 14SF, just for ground clearance sake, which isn't what he truly wants. They intimidated him into a decision based on their wants, not his needs.
There is nothing wrong with a 14BSF axle. It has it's purposes, but if you could get a FF for the same price as a SF, the advantages of a FF far outweight a lousy 1" of clearance, especially in the MUD.
EDIT: HIGHLIGHTED AREA EMPHASISED, not done in original post
This is about building a rig on a budget, spending money wisely, doing it right the first time so down the road you don't spend money on the same crap again! So go ahead, mislead a fellow wheeler. Tell him it's fine to get a SF with 35's and upgrade to either a 14 BFF or convert the SF to a FF later down the road. That's a wheelin' buddy? Not your money, right? Not your back the guy busts to make a living and enjoy a hobby, right? Guess you're Mr. Money Bags. Why not give him all his options and let him decide, which is what this was about from the beginning; not ramming a 14 FF down his throat. But wait, I forgot, you never finish anything you start.
He originally wanted to go D60 but changed to keeping a 10 Bolt and running 8 lug Dana 44 outer's to match the 14 Bolt he was gonna get. Let's see....
My bad, he's already converting his front to 8 lug, has the parts, and already has the wheels. As far as the e-brake is concerned, as long as he has the 14 bolt cables, it should be a direct bolt up. That is what I have read here in CK5. If wrong, please correct me. I don't want to mislead him.
So yes, he won't gain weight in a D60, but he'll add some weight to the 10 Bolt with 3/4 ton running gear. So he hasn't fallen into that "trap" everyone else, including "you" have. He made a decision to which I fully support.
You cannot discredit tire weight and accessory weight added onto a vehicle just because it's not a "mondo" rig. Boggers, even at 35's are much heavier than other mud terrains or even aggressive all terrains. Tire weight is tire weight, just like a winch weighing 150 pounds is 150 pounds whether on a rig that's equipped with 29's or 44's, or a Ford, Dodge, Toyota, Sami, etc.. Same with gas cans, water cans, roll cages, tool boxes, tools, hi lift jacks, etc.
Or as My cousin Vinny put it:
Vinny Gambini: How could it take you five minutes to cook your grits when it takes the entire grit-eating world 20 minutes?
Mr. Tipton: Um... I'm a fast cook, I guess.
Vinny Gambini: What? I'm sorry I was over there. Did you just say you were a fast cook?
Are we to believe that boiling water soaks into a grit faster in your kitchen than any place on the face of the earth?
Mr. Tipton: I don't know.
Vinny Gambini:
Perhaps the laws of physics cease to exist on your stove. Were these magic grits? Did you buy them from the same guy who sold Jack his beanstalk beans?
I suppose the laws of physics cease to exist on your truck and in your world. Is your's a
Richard Simmons magic truck? Did you buy them from the same guy who went bankrupt after selling the beans and switched professions to a used Chevy dealer?
What I've learned is how to recognize a smart mouthed disrespectful person and how to deal with them-STRAIGHT UP.
