I have a 6.2L diesel. I stripped the brass fitting holding a hardline into the fuel/lift pump. I did use a proper fitting line wrench, but it still stripped.
I pulled the entire fuel line out attached to the lift pump, and them was able to remove it. It is stripped and unusable.
It's going to be a PITA to get the new fuel line in, as it runs under the intake and such. I was going to just plumb it around the engine, rather than over the top, as there is a lot of room.
Now the quandry. I am sure that the 5/8 brass fittings are easy to obtain locally. But then I would have to invest in a flaring tool, tube, tube cutter, etc.
Is there a way to get a fittin that may have a male end that I could put flexible fuel line onto with clamp and run it that way, or am I forced to make a new one.
In trying to re-use the old line, I would have to cut off the flare in order to get the stripped bushing off. Not sure there is enough tube there before a major 90 deg bend to reuse.
Suggestions ?
