Looks like my lever gave way this evening, bad thing is the lights were on High Beam. I can't get them to click off. The lever seems loose, although it still operates the wipers ok. is there any other way to get to the low beams, other then then using lever on the column? No floor/foot button, like the older trucks. I will need to obviously replace the lever, but any help in the mean time (so i can drive at night with pissing people off) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The hi-beam switch is on the left side of the steering column, i can't remember if you can access it or not without dropping the column down but you can get to it. The lever just moves a steel rod that pushes the switch so all you have to do it be able to grab the rod with either your hand or a pair of pliers and push it down to turn the hi-beams off.

The switch is adjustable at the mounting points too, so it may just need adjusted.

x2. One rod will be the ignition switch, that is easy to figure out by turning the key with your finger on one of the metal rods.

I suspect you'll need to pull the plastic, then metal panels that cover the underside of the column where it meets up with the dash.

Assuming it's an auto truck, if you need to drop the column a bit to get to it, you can, but I'd be cautious of the shift indicator. I suspect that will break if not disconnected first. Two 15MM nuts (deep well makes it easy) will allow you to drop the column enough to get at the switch and the rods.
