ok i have the highsteer and crossover for ord. im just having problems w a good place to mount the ram. where are you all mounting them. pictures would be nice. the more i look at other k5s, it looks as if they only run highsteer, is there a reason for that. thanks for your input.

most just run crossover cause doing highsteer with D44 knuckles isn't suggested, also most don't mind having the tierod below. Mine is ORD's HD tierod.

you have a cluster f*** of piping above your axle lol, dunno where the ram goes

tagged for pics :)

nah, I saw it's on 1tons. But most still just run D44s, that might be the pictures you are seeing. I wasn't sure. Whether they are D44s or D60s, most are just happy with the stock position tierod. Or like me, get a beefier one.

still would be interested in seeing those pictures

The highsteer won't allow for proper ram mounting. You'll probably need to change the engine crossmember and have more than six inches of lift. Check out mnstrburban or my family weekend warrior. Both suburbans but gives you an idea of what it involves.

We have a bracket meant for exactly what you're trying to do and as long as you have at least 4" of lift it will work for you.

ive seen a few run the ram on the axle, with it attaching to the stock tierod location on the knuckle. THen have a skid protection area over the ram

I would love to see it mounted on something, ya have any pictures??

If its a single ended ram. You could probably mount to the drivers side spring plate. You'll just have to see how close the tie rod comes to the diff. Mounted low is fine but it defeats the purpose of hysterectomies.

Yeah, but you're talking about several thousand pounds worth of force on the spring plate in a different direction than it was intended for. It's tough enough to keep u-bolts tight when the truck is used hard!

That's why we use a dedicated bracket for an assist cylinder.

hey chris its nice to be able to talk to someone who sells theirs stuff like you do. i just got my junk runin and found out real quick hydro is a must. i have your engine cross member w a 3 in tuff country lift and i think it will work. my up travel will only be about 4.5 inches, but you have to remember that is in the middle of the truck. so the only way to smach the oil pan is to jump it where both tires are compress. i just need some picks to see how it all comes together.

Understood. I looked at the picture of the bracket. Does it weld to the axle tube in an angled vertical fashion? Leaning toward the passenger side? I tried mounting mine behind the tie rod, but found the rod wouldn't clear the spring plate. Do you have any pics of the mount yet? I have another 60 that needs hydro assist. Prefer not to do double ram like the suburban.

While this may be true, it works for me. The stationary end of my ram is mounted to a bracket connected to the u bolt plate. Never had a problem with the u bolts coming loose never had a problem with the spring plate.

It may not work for others but it works very well on my truck.
