I have an 88' K5 with the factory headlights. With my low beam switch on, only the right side bulb will turn on. When I turn on the high beam switch, all 4 bulbs light up simultaneously. Why would the left low beam only turn on when the brights are on? Thanks for your advice!

the connect on the back of the head light is most likely lose and is not making contact with the both of the low beam terminals. i had this happen with my truck and the car i had before. sometimes it can be fixed by just playing with the connector but usually you need to replace it.

Because they use different filaments in the same bulb, to get high or low beam. Most likely problem is that the bulb needs replaced, but wouldn't hurt to check the connector.

In my case, the light simply stopped working when I hit bumps because the connection wasn't that good.

Good time to switch to HID's. I'm about to switch mine so I can actually see at night.
