I need to move my axle forward on my 1971 k5 blazer. probably about 5 inches. It is stock suspension, but has a 1961 Willys wagon body on it with 38.5 inch tires. when turning and articulating the front tires hit the back of the front fenders.I already have ORD crossover steering,2wd steering gear and a PSC hydro assist waiting to be put on, also have a dana 60 front and a 14 bolt f.f. rear axles to be put in. I think I need some leaf springs with an offset pin location. Ive been looking at a 3 link or a 4 link kit but I really dont have room under it. its got a v8, headers, and the master cylinder is right in the way, any one with ideas? please help with my dilemnia. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks, Dave

You can move the spring mount about 4" forward on the frame and then redrill your perches or run a zero rate for the last inch. Will improve your approach angle and you won't need new springs.

I remember some conversation a while back about how far the axle can be moved forward before the steering box also has to be moved forward. If memory serves, about 4" was the consensus.

Just working off memory here but something to watch out for.

I'm of no assistance here, except to say, WE NEED PICS OF SAID RIG :D
Willys wagons rock :pimp:

figured how to move axle forward

Thanks everyone who tried to help. Im installing triangulated 4 links front and rear, that way I end up with a killer suspension and can move the axle all I want. I already have 1 ton axles , a 2wd steering box , cross over steering and PSC hydro assist in the garage. I will also be installing coilovers. I'm getting the kit from Barnes 4x4. I know ord has already mapped out the whole kit for this but the difference in price is over 2000 dollars. It is a willya wagon body on a 1971 k5 chassis afterall, but I like Barnes's stuff. After I post 5 times on this sight , I'll be able to post up some pics. If you look at pirate 4x4, I already have pics. posted. Thanks again everyone!
