i just bought a 4" rough country for my 86 blazer. i finished the install this mornin and let it back on the tires and the rear is a Full 2.5" lower than the front. its almost heart breaking. is there any way to tell if i got 6" front springs by mistake?.... also when the brake lines were relocated they are still pretty close to their max.. what can i do to fix this?

If the brake lines are maxed out even in their relocated position... sounds like it's time for new extended lines.

Did the lift you bought come with rear blocks or springs? If it was rear blocks you may be suffering from factory rear spring saggy butt syndrome. It should have been saggy b4 the install if this is the case.

If all spring lift... I'd assume something's up and contact the company that sent the lift or the manufacturer for info.

Either way... if you like the front as is, you prob want to modify the rear to match (zero rates, shakle flip, etc.).

i did go block rear but it never sagged like this when it was stock. another thing i noticed is at rest the shocks only have 2"s of travel left on front and plenty in the rear. its a 10 inch tall shock with 8 inches of rod out

Sounds to me like you got the wrong front springs. A picture would help though.

Sounds like you need new shocks and brake lines. Get the PN off of the springs and RC should be able to tell you which ones they are.

But don't forget that the stock springs front and back would have aged to sag in a similar fashion before the lift. IT WOULD HAVE LOOKED LEVEL.

so if it now has new ones up front and old ones with blocks in the back, you are only sagging in the back. That makes sense to me.

To note: the basic lift is merely for lifting the vehicle, it doesn't make it good for off road. That is why the brake lines are still almost stretched to their max. For street driving, that is all. Off road you need to articulate, so longer lines are a must.

Your best option is send the blocks back or sell them, they only made up $50 of the total lift kit anyway. Buy some matching lift springs for the rear if you want to off road any. Trust me, look at my '76 in the gallery. Search for wrecked Blazer. It was all a stupid rear lift block tradegy.

The last image is one of the rear spring bolted back on with sockets as spacers to get enough thread for the nuts to secure properly. Basically, the axle wrapped and spit out a lift block, this made the rear axle turn on one side kinda like rear steering. It drove me off a dam mountain.:eek1:

Wow. Talk about a pictures being worth 1000 words.

I went with a shackle flip, but new rear springs are probably also in my near future.

I have seen many many times, suspension tightened up to tight with an impact. since you left the rear springs in place, you didnt mess with the bolts, but on the front did you impact the shackle bolts tight against the springs? Those are to be snug or just touching the metal, not sandwiched tight with a Germay torque. Use metal lock nuts and just take the slack out of the bolts. I have seen so many times this problem, the best is a 12in lift on a K5 of my buddy's, I slide under it and starting loosing the bolts and it dropped I swear 4inches all at once and spooked the crap out of me under it.
So I would check that and I agree with the other posts that the old springs on the back are worn out.

yes i will admid i used an impact but i didn't just hold it down and beat them tight. i will definatly check to be sure... can anyone else with a RC kit tell me how many leafs the springs are supposed to have? i got a 5 leaf front

Wow, that Blazer looks rough! So what's the question, you're missing the blocks, so it sits that much lower now?

i have blocks and the rear sags horribly. i loosened everything up and it did not drop at all. so i still just too damn tall

In that picture it looks like you don't have blocks...Have you put blocks in since?

Oh, whoops, my bad. That's what I get for not paying attention. Sorry.

Not to hijack the thread, but..........
Whats a fullsize Truggy?? I race 1/8 Nitro Expert Buggy and 1/8 Unlimited Truck which is a Buggy inlarged into a truck (Truggy Class)

who said anything about a truggy? Its a truck that has been tubed out until there isn't much truck left and its more like a buggy

the post above mine had truggy on it. Thanks for the new definition. I am a big time racer of the truggy class and it blew me away seeing it here.
